This is great and makes me recall Kant's cautionary note about sculpture in his 3rd Critique, saying that while subjects like war and violence can be treated beautifully in painting (while still being about war and violence), that sculpture is too close to what is "real" and therefore in sculpture these subjects can be disgusting. I wonder. Is the Hirschorn piece (which I love) any more disturbing than a Dana Schutz painting of a sneeze? And speaking of which, I am in the throes of a gross, sneezy cold and deeply identify with Hirshorn's mannequin in the foreground. At-CHOO!
